As travel costs rise this summer, nearly half of travelers making over $100k are still booking, and the middle-income segment is scaling back. Bankrate data shows only 53% plan vacations, stable from last year but down from 2023, while Deloitte reveals that 50% of summer travelers earn six figures, up from 35%, indicating the wealth gap in travel is widening. Middle‑income travelers are opting for road trips, RVs, or stays with family to save, while affluent travelers continue splurging on luxury resorts, cruises, and private rentals.
