Thank you for interacting with Affordable Skies Coalition (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy, and to being transparent about our communications, membership, and refund policies. When you visit our website, www.affordableskies.org, and use our services including accessing research, educational materials, advocacy resources, or membership features, you trust us with your personal information and participation. We take this responsibility seriously. In this Privacy, Communications, Membership and Refund Policy, we explain what information we collect, how we use it, how memberships and contributions are handled including refunds, and what rights you have in relation to them. If there are any terms in this policy that you do not agree with, please discontinue use of our website and related services.

This policy applies to all information collected through our website, www.affordableskies.org, and any related services, sales, marketing, or events, collectively referred to as the “Services.”

1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

Personal information you disclose to us

We collect personal information that you provide to us such as name, address, contact information, passwords and security data, and payment information.

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you request information about us or our products and services, participate in activities on the Services, or otherwise contact us. The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with us and the Services and may include:

 

Publicly Available Personal Information: In limited circumstances, we may receive publicly available information such as name or contact details in connection with outreach or engagement activities.

Credentials: We collect passwords, password hints, and similar security information for authentication and account access.

Information automatically collected

Some information such as IP address and browser or device characteristics is collected automatically when you visit our Services.

We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate the Services. This information does not reveal your specific identity, but may include device and usage information such as IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, and information about when and how you use our Services. This information is used for security, internal analytics, and reporting.

Like many websites, we also collect information through cookies and similar technologies, including identifiers used for analytics and marketing.

2. HOW DO WE USE YOUR INFORMATION?

We process your information based on legitimate business interests, fulfillment of our contract with you, compliance with legal obligations, and or your consent.

We use personal information collected via our Services for the following purposes:

  • To send you marketing and promotional communications in accordance with your preferences. You may opt out of marketing emails at any time.

  • To deliver communications or content that may be relevant to your interests and to measure effectiveness.

  • To request feedback and contact you about your experience with our Services.

3. WILL YOUR INFORMATION BE SHARED?

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not share personal information with outside parties except when required by law, necessary to protect rights, or under the following circumstances:

  • Consent, where you have given us permission for a specific use.

  • Legitimate interests, where necessary to operate our organization.

  • Performance of a contract, where data is needed to fulfill an agreement with you.

  • Legal obligations, including court orders or subpoenas.

  • Vital interests, including investigation of fraud, policy violations, or illegal activity.

 

We may use third party service providers to help deliver communications, analytics, or advertising on our behalf, but we do not sell personal information.

Text messaging opt in data, including consent and related personal information, will not be sold or otherwise shared except if required by law.


4. DO WE USE COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES?

We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies such as web beacons and pixels to collect and store information. Details on how to manage cookies may be provided elsewhere on our website or in a separate cookie notice.


5. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?

We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

When there is no ongoing legitimate business need, we will delete or anonymize personal information. If deletion is not possible due to storage in backups, the information will be securely isolated until deletion is feasible.


6. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?

We use appropriate organizational and technical security measures to protect personal information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM MINORS?

We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age.

By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 years old or are the parent or guardian of a minor using the Services with consent. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 18 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. 8. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?

You may review, update, or request deletion of your personal information by contacting info@affordableskies.org. Most web browsers accept cookies by default. You may adjust your browser settings to remove or reject cookies, which may affect certain site features.


9. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES

Some browsers offer Do Not Track features. There is no uniform standard for responding to these signals, and we do not currently respond to them. If a standard is adopted, we will update this Policy accordingly.


10. TEXT MESSAGING TERMS & CONDITIONS

By providing your phone number and opting in, you consent to receive recurring text messages containing updates, event reminders, and donation requests from Affordable Skies Coalition. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Text messaging opt in data will not be rented, sold, or shared. Participating carriers may include AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, Boost, U.S. Cellular, MetroPCS, and others. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. To discontinue messages, contact info@affordableskies.org.

Our practices for collecting and processing opt in data including phone numbers and email addresses are designed to comply with applicable laws and guidelines, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, CTIA guidelines, and carrier requirements for 10DLC, toll free, and short code messaging.


11. EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS TERMS & CONDITIONS

By providing your email address, you consent to receive recurring email communications including newsletters, updates, event invitations, and donation requests. You may unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email, or by emailing us at info@affordableskies.org.  We do not sell or rent email addresses.

12. MEMBERSHIP CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS 

Affordable Skies Coalition operates on a membership contribution model that supports nonprofit advocacy and consumer education.

Premium and Leadership Circle memberships renew automatically each year unless canceled. Membership contributions are considered donations and are nonrefundable except in cases of duplicate or accidental charges. If a duplicate or erroneous payment occurs, please contact info@affordableskies.org. Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method when applicable.

If you cancel your membership, billing will stop immediately, and access to membership benefits will continue through the end of the current billing period. Limited transaction records may be retained for accounting, audit, and legal purposes.


13. DO WE MAKE UPDATES TO THIS POLICY?

We may update this Policy as necessary to remain compliant with applicable laws. Updates will be reflected by a revised date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
