Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) have introduced the bipartisan Airport Gate Competition Act, aiming to improve public access to airport gates. The bill would mandate medium and large hub airports to reserve at least 25% of terminal facilities (gates, ticket counters, baggage zones) for shared use and restrict exclusive airline control to no more than 50%. Proponents argue this could enhance competition, lower fares, and make airports more adaptable for low-cost carriers.
