Jerry P. Martinez serves as Chairman of the Board of Affordable Skies, providing strategic leadership as the organization works to strengthen the role of traveler voices in the future of aviation through education, research, and advocacy.

A retired Lieutenant General in the United States Air Force, Jerry completed a distinguished 33-year military career leading complex operations around the world. In his final assignment, he served as Commander of U.S. Forces Japan, overseeing 54,000 service members while managing bilateral security issues and military negotiations with the Government of Japan. Throughout his career, he held senior leadership positions across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, including serving with NATO during operations in Afghanistan and helping shape alliance responses following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Jerry was selected for the prestigious Secretary of Defense Corporate Fellow Program, where he spent a year with DuPont gaining executive-level experience in corporate strategy, business operations, investor relations, sales, marketing, and executive leadership. Since retiring from military service, he has advised CEOs, corporate boards, and government leaders on national security, organizational strategy, business development, and international affairs.

 

He is the founder of a global consulting firm, serves as CEO of a capital advisory company, and is a senior advisor to multiple organizations, including the Center for Asia Pacific Strategy.

An accomplished speaker, Jerry has addressed audiences around the world on national security and international affairs. He also appeared in the award-winning History Channel series Defending Japan and recently authored a high-tech fiction thriller exploring the misuse of artificial intelligence.

Jerry was raised in Guymon, Oklahoma, and is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from Webster University. He and his wife have two children. Throughout his career, Jerry has remained committed to leadership grounded in integrity, hard work, and respect for others.
